The San Felipe Desert Mayhem 150 Off Road Race was an idea that was born after noticing a huge declain in tourism in the month of January the egerness to help local charities and our love for off road racing . When we shared the idea, more people came along and offered to help. The main goal for this inaugural race is tp promote tourism, help out local charities, and for all of us to be able to share our love for off-road racing. Our current organizing commitee consists of Ledgar Osuna , Martin Rangel , Juan Gallo and myself Cesar Quirarte. We plan on donating a percentage of the profits to the local charities listed below.
Martin Romo is a local business man who co-owns Rosita's Restaurant with his brother. Martin has taken it upon himself to clean up the town, build a park, and turn San Felipe Green by planting and watering trees all over San Felipe. He does this with donations from other businesses and people like you and me who find the kindness in their hearts to help.
Edith Fuentes and Michelle and Bob Mcdonald, run this local facility and provide cáncer education, prevention, and early detection to residents of the San Felipe community.
An organization created by local developer Pat Butler (El Dorado Ranch). This organization helps local children get a better education and assists them in pursuing a higher education. Each year in October, they hold an annual charity golf tournament.
Cooks and delivers about 100 meals per day to the elderly, sick, disabled, and children. They also provide 26 disabled children and 14 disabled adults with diapers, Ensure, wheelchairs, crutches, medications and help with any and all social services in San Felipe that their resources allow.
Cruz Roja provides emergency medical care and services for locals and tourists. They are present at every major event to provide emergency support services.
This event consists of a 3 day event starting on Friday, Jan 20th with contingency on the Malecón , race day is Saturday Jan 21st with the awards ceremony following right after the finish along with a off road baja fiesta on the malecón complete with a giant paella , live music and fun for the whole family. As well as a family fun run around the course on the 22nd so you dont have to have a race car to have fun in baja.
